Wow! What an exciting Thanksgiving Celebration Service we had this past Sunday. We also officially made it bring your Son-in-Law to Church day! With a big shout out to Todd Moore and Chris Kennedy! We had close to 50 in attendance and had a great day of worship and fellowship. A big hanks to Leona Hobson and Vicki Wilson for all your hard work in coordinating the yummy Thanksgiving meal we all got to share together. All I can say is that I am blessed to pastor at such a loving little country church!
God placed a message upon my heart on being "Truly Thankful". Our happiness and joy in our lives does not come from circumstances or possessions, but rather from the relationship we have with Jesus. There are 3 points we must understand if we are going to have a life of being "Truly Thankful"
1. God is in Control - Habakkuk 3:17-19
If all your material things were gone, would God still receive your praise and thanksgiving? True thanksgiving is realizing God is in control at all times and in all things! Paul stressed this point to the church in Romans 8:28.
2. God is Our Strength - I Corinthians 1:25
God is our perfect wisdom and perfect strength in our daily lives. Trials can be God's way to triumph! Trials are God's way to prepare us for our next promotion. Read what Paul had to say in II Corinthians 12:9-10.
3. God is Our Eternal Hope - II Corinthians 4:7-9, 17-18
Praise God He is our eternal hope and the keeper of our salvation. Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Jesus made us an amazing promise in John 14:2-3.
So remember to live a "Truly Thankful" life: We must realize God is in control; God is our source of strength; and God is our eternal hope. A quote from Our Daily Bread says, "The joy of living comes from a heart of thanksgiving!" A Christian's thanksgiving day should be 365 days a year!
Love you all,
I am going to leave the message points from "Let Go and Let God" posted here on the welcome page, as we all need to let God have His way in our lives on a daily basis. God poured out his blessings on the Church in Acts 2:41-47 and He wants to do the same for us today! The four steps we must take as believers to "Let Go and Let God" are the following:
1) Claim Our Power (Acts 1:8)
2) Accept Our Mission (Matthew 28:19)
3) Unite in Love (Matthew 22:37-40)
4) Focus on Our Purpose (Romans 8:28)
That same God that saved 3,000 souls on the Day of Pentecost is the same God we serve today! We must unite together as a Church and Impact the world around us for the glory of God! Start each morning by saying, "Lord, What would you have me to do?" When we have a T.G.I.F. day (Today God is First), we truly "Let Go and Let God"! Folks are truly excited about the growth and vision God has placed upon our hearts. We are excited about all the hard work that has gone into our Junior Church program and are blessed with several workers to help train up our children in the Lord. We are starting back up the Discipleship Training Bible Study on Sunday nights. We will be taking a close look at the Purpose of the Church. The Church enthusiasm has been great to see and I know God is going to further bless through this study.
Wednesday nights we continue the great time of fellowship in our weekly Bible study. We will be starting a new Bible study this summer focusing on the "Power of Prayer." I invite you to join us on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.
I want to invite those in the community who do not have a Church home to come and grow with us. I feel God has led us to be a Church that everyone is invited to come as you are and allow God to make a difference in your life! Too many times we want to judge people because they are different than us and that is not what God wants for His Church. Hope to see you real soon at one of our morning services at 10:30 a.m. I believe you will enjoy our worship services and quickly feel you are part of our church family!
Please continue to pray for the Church and our staff as we reach out to the community with the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ. Remember if you don't have a Church home, you have a family waiting for you to join us here at Concord General Baptist. I hope to see you at one of our services in the near future. Have a blessed week in the Lord!
